  1. I think it's great that people are stepping up and recognizing the way new technology is changing the way Americans interact and exchange information. More often than not, younger people tend to search for information via the web and social networking sites, so it's cool to see it being studied to examine exactly how much of their web use reflects their participation in American politics. Great job!

  2. I am just currently getting into the whole on-line political thing. It's funny how politicians are so internet involved now. Great research and questions.

  4. Nora,

A couple of years ago, I created a facebook group for Livonia Area Young Democrats. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=9947043676

My problem was that I actually didn't actually know many politically active young people in Livonia! It has been very tough to get people involved in real life, compared to showing interest online. That's the real challenge. The best way to gain members is for friends to share with other friends what they "like", but it is very hard to build a group from scratch like I tried to do.

    I am one of the super-active people, but I am 32 now so I don't count! :)

  5. Thank you!

Sarah - It is actually very odd to think that every politician has a Facebook and Twitter account (almost feels like it happened over night) but it makes sense considering it is the best way to reach out to others on a massive level. The best PR can be done on such platforms. I think this speaks volumes about our society and where the future of politics is heading.

Bob- That sounds like a Facebook group I would like to join! I think you may find that the number of young people active in online politics is growing. I see what you are saying - people may "like" a group or participate in the aspect of reposting but that does not necessarily mean that those active Facebook users will be active outside of the online realm. P.s. you totally count!

  6. Including the actual candidate's label, elected situation, selection date and so forth... You'd be surprised how usually these details can be neglected of the site : even around the contact site.
